Welcome to the Sidewalks for Belle Meade website. The purpose of this website is to inform and encourage people in Belle Meade (within Metro Nashville) to adopt a city wide sidewalk system. It is also intended to energize those of us who feel that sidewalks need to be a priority of the city leaders and to encourage them to take the initiative.
As a native Nashvillian and long time resident of Belle Meade I have been active in city affairs serving as the Chairman of the Sidewalk Committee and the Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals. I cherish the natural beauty and charm of our city. I also enjoy my neighbors; however, I believe we can make Belle Meade a more beautiful and live able community by adding a network of sidewalks. People would be able to more easily exercise and visit with their neighbors. I know this issue has brought out some passionate views from both sides. My heartfelt desire is not to divide our community but to unite us.
